For UK teenage birders

A one day course on gull and wader ID has been organised by RSPB

If you`re?
trying to sort out dunlin and curlew sand
confused by immature gulls
wondering where on earth the tertials are
hopeless at ageing waders?
then read on.A one day course on gull and wader ID has been organised by RSPB Phoenix, exclusively for teenage birders. Tim Cleeves and Richard Porter will lead the day. Both are very experienced birders; Tim found the UK`s first slender-billed curlew and is co-author of the recently published RSPB handbook of British Birds; Richard has many books to his credit including the Field Guide to the Birds of the Middle East and Flight Identification of European Raptors. The day includes indoor sessions, plenty of time in the field to try it out for real, a mystery bird quiz and a mini bird race with a difference. It all takes place at Titchwell, Norfolk on Friday 23 August from 9.30am ? 6.00pm. And it only costs ?5 for the day (though you will need to bring your own lunch).Contact David Chandler, RSPB Youth Unit, The Lodge, Sandy, Beds SG19 2DL for a booking form, or e-mail him on david.chandler@rspb.org.uk Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. You do not need to be a member of RSPB Phoenix to take part in this course.
